Anchorage youth were given a chance to speak out about their hopes, concerns, and ideas for the city at the NAACP Alaska Chapter’s 2020 Black History Month Youth Summit.
Dozens of Anchorage residents turned out for the event Saturday at UAA’s Rasmussen Hall. The NAACP Anchorage Youth Works Committee invited young members of the public to the summit to learn about Black History Month, and to foster real-world engagement with each other and the community.
Among the conversations were mental health and suicide prevention, financial literacy, juvenile justice, and the importance of voting and being active in the community.
